Meyer Memorial Trust awarded 19 grants for more than $2.8 million to tax
exempt organizations in Oregon and Clark County, Washington, at our May
program meeting. The meeting was held in Pendleton so trustees and
staff could meet with community members and visit prior grantees
What type of fiscal sponsor arrangements are not allowed?

Organizations that
are not recognized as tax-exempt by the IRS are not eligible to apply to Meyer
Memorial Trust. Such organizations cannot ask another, unrelated organization
(especially if the missions are not aligned) to be its fiscal sponsor. This is
considered “borrowing” another organization’s tax-exempt status and is not
allowed.
Can we use a fiscal sponsor for our grant application?

Oregon Community College, Oregon State University, other government

educational opportunities in Crook County, whose once thriving economy had been declining since the 1980s. This collective effort brought degree programs and credit courses to Prineville for the first time since 2003. Students can access all of the requirements for a basic associates degree without ever leaving their community.
