Volunteers In Medicine Clinic
The Volunteers In Medicine Clinic in Eugene provides free primary
medical care and mental health services to Lane County's low income adults who have no insurance. When uninsured patients delay needed care, their conditions become major
health threats that are more costly and more difficult to treat, often
in hospital emergency rooms with the cost passed on to paying customers. Meyer Memorial Trust grants for more than $677,000 helped the clinic establish a diabetes education and management program and integrate delivery of primary medicine with mental health service.
