Portland Habilitation Center NW
Portland Habilitation Center NW, a nonprofit organization that trains and employs hundreds of workers with disabilities at living wages, significantly reduced its operating costs beginning in 2007 by installing a 4,800 solar panels on the roof of its Airpot Way 75,000 square foot industrial facility in northeast Portland. This solar array has the capacity to produce 870 kilowatts of power, meeting all the power needs of operations at the site. Meyer Memorial Trust contributed $200,000 to the $6.45 million project. PHCNW expects to recover the costs of the installation over the next few years.
