What I do at MMT:
I am to MMT what the doorman was to The Emerald City in The Wizard of Oz. I am, however, a bit more cheerful, less a prominent handlebar mustache, and much more informational. You can find me at the front desk answering the telephone, dispensing a variety of information and assisting with projects originating from all areas of the office.
What was your life experience before you came to MMT and how does it contribute to your work at MMT?
I started out in Texas and quickly decided it wasn’t my style. Being a very assertive child, by 6 months old, I had convinced my parents to move to the Midwest where I heard house music had originated. I did most of my growing up between Chicago, IL and Sheboygan, WI, although my life adventures have been very wide spread. I got my first taste of the non-profit world while working at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan. It was easy to see that the ideals of the organization, to better humankind, were parallel to my own. Without knowing it, this was the type of organization I had always hoped to be apart of. As Paul Gignac has said, "A philanthropist knows the act of philanthropy before knowing the definition of the word".
What high school did you attend?
Sheboygan North High School
When you graduated from high school, what did you want to be?
A philosophy professor. Particularly inspired by a class I took in high school, I discovered myself within philosophical readings, writings, and discussions. It helped shape my belief system so profoundly, and the only meaningful thing I could think to do with my life is to help shape the beliefs of others. What a human being believes is the most important things about them; it dictates how we treat people, where we go, what we wear, whom we befriend and whom we shut out. I knew that if only I could inspire and give guidance to even just one human being while on their endless path to self-discovery, my niche on this planet would have been filled.
How long did you follow that plan, where did it lead?
I follow that plan up to this very day. After graduating high school, I attended college with a major in Philosophy while living in Sheboygan and plan to continue my education next fall while here in Portland. The in between time is filled with reading books of other philosopher’s inquiries and discoveries as well as writing out my own.
If I met my high school self, I would say:
If you approach everything with the appreciation of its innate beauty (including yourself), you will never take it for granted and never want to destroy. Everyone heals with love; everyone grows with love.
What were your favorite extracurricular activities in high school? What did you do for fun?
I played the flute in the jazz band, the violin in the orchestra, sang classical music with the choir and sang opera on an individual basis. When I wasn’t doing those things, you could find me taking photographs, reading, writing or amongst a group of friends laughing about something silly.
What was your favorite music to listen to?
It’s impossible to name a favorite because my musical tastes have always been widespread, but a few favorites include Michael Jackson (Don’t judge me, or him for that matter. His music is amazing!), Billie Holiday, Notorious B.I.G., Digable Planets, and The Sugar Hill Gang.

die a penniless poet with great posthumous success.
You don't know me unless you know this about me:
I have the Bat Symbol tattooed onto my right foot. Why you will have to find out on your own time. What you should know is that it works as a legitimate Bat-Signal. Also, I’m an idealist.
