View while quiltingI have a feeling many of us have spent a lot more time indoors than we hoped as we slogged our way through this exceedingly long and cold and wet spring. Maybe you've found solace in front of a sun lamp, maybe you've energized yourself with extra cups of coffee, maybe you've cultivated that hobby you've been eyeing for a while.

This week's news will reward the patience of many:

  • Program Officer Sally Yee heads to southern Lane and northern Douglas counties for another Two Way Street Tour June 7-10th. (This is a reschedule of the March tour that was cancelled due to illness.) For the complete schedule, READ MORE
  • MMT made 31 grants and one program-related investment this month for more than $3.8 million. These awards bring the total amount handed out since MMT began operating in 1982 to nearly $532 million. For a list of this month's awards, READ MORE
  • May grants included $200,000 to Native American Youth and Family Center in Portland to support leadership development in Oregon's communities of color. This is the official launch of the $million idea selected in MMT's Ideas4Oregon forum to kick off our second $500 million in awards to tax exempt organizations. READ MORE
  • MMT's Community Building project that Doug Stamm announced last month is seeking a project director. To find out what the position requires and anticipated timelines, READ MORE
  • Want to know what the next big thing is in social media space? Social CRM (the ability to track customer/constituent information and engagement across social media platforms). To find out what former MMT staff member and current NTEN membership director Amy Sample Ward has to say about it in an interview for Foundation Center's Philantopic blog, READ MORE

That's all I have time for today, I'm heading outside... my dear hubby added a little deck beside our little pond in our little backyard and those little chairs look waaaay too empty. I hope you'll join me in the great Oregon outdoors.
