Summer, Glorious Summer
Didn't I promise glorious summer weather? Now do you believe me? [Believe me, I was worried too! :)]
I love to find unusual views of summer weather, like this one through the begonia leaves and flowers spilling from the basket that hangs on my front porch. Everything looks better from there.
Actually, everything looks better from anywhere today because I'm about to be gone from the office and the iWays for a while. Don't get me wrong, I love what I do here, but I need a break. I need to refesh and renew. Here's what I mean: READ MORE
By the way, have you noticed that Meyer Memorial Trust staff members have embraced blogging in a BIG way?! I'm working on the remaining holdouts and mark my words, they will be blogging by year's end. Look what we've added to your summer reading list:
- Program Officer Paul Reich tells you everything you ever wanted to know about financial audits (or at least what we want you to know when preparing a proposal to MMT) READ MORE
- Grants Administration Director Phoebe O'Leary pulls the curtain back on GrantIS, MMT's grants application and management software READ MORE
Now you know I can't leave you for this long without sharing something awesome that knocked my socks off. Check these out:
- I hope to be far from city lights during the Perseids this month. I worry about children growing up without ever seeing the night sky in places that get really really dark because I wonder where they will get a sense of wonder about the universe. Here's something that might help, Alex Cherney's video of the Australian night sky that took the top prize at the STARMUS astrophotography competition this year. Prepare to be awed.
- We really should watch at least one TED talk every day. We really should. And here's a continuously updated database (a Google spreadsheet) of them all! You're welcome. Prepare to be awed.
- While a little less intergalactic, I found The Greater Portland Workbook: A Datascape of the Portland, Oregon–Vancouver, Washington Metro Region 2011 no less fascinating.
Okay, that's it for now, have a wonderful rest of the summer, see you again in mid-September. You will hear from others at MMT before you hear from me again. :)
