Wake up 2012! The color of the year is Tangerine Tango! Gotta start moving!

I suppose winter weather will arrive eventually but it's sure been feeling like spring here lately. Not much blooming outside to report these days, but my indoor plants seem pretty bloomin' happy!

We have two important job openings to announce, along with some other news:

  • MMT is looking for a Program Officer. We are looking for an innovative individual with a commitment to and experience in the social sector and public service. We are looking for candidates who may not be traditional foundation applicants. Candidates who take a novel approach to problem-solving and have an interest in improving philanthropy are strongly encouraged to apply. Application deadline is 5 p.m., January 20, 2012. READ MORE
  • The Coalition of Communities of Color (CCC) is looking for someone to coordinate CCC's leadership development initiative (funded by MMT). CCC is an alliance of culturally-specific community based organizations in the Portland metropolitan area with representatives from six communities of color – African, African American, Asian and Pacific Islander, Latino, Native American, and Slavic.  The CCC seeks to advance racial equity through research and education, policy analyses and advocacy, and capacity building. Application deadline is January 27, 2012. READ MORE
  • On the subject of jobs, we came across an interesting study that found that more than 15% of workers get hired through social networks these days.
  • Our fearless leader Doug Stamm was featured as one of Portland's 50 most influential citizens in the January issue of Portland Monthly magazine.
  • The important role of nonprofits in central Oregon's economy was featured in a special report by the Bend Bulletin. READ MORE
  • Northwest Health Foundation is offering a two-day storytelling training for nonprofit teams January 19-20 in Portland. READ MORE

That's all the news so far, now for your moment of wonder – I had no idea this form of art existed, but it took my breath away... http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2011/12/carved-book-landscapes-by-guy-laramee/?src=footer
