When Meyer Memorial Trust's trustees met this week, they awarded 17 grants totaling $2.85 million. These grants bring the total awarded since MMT began operating in 1982 to 7,145 awards totaling $580.4 million.One million dollars of the December awards were for emergency assistance to poor and working class families as they continue to struggle to meet the needs of their families in this economy, evidenced by these sobering statistics:
