Debbie Craig
Board member since 1995What career path did you follow before becoming a trustee at Meyer Memorial Trust?
I began as a family law attorney, continued as chair of conservation and education organizations, and always remained passionate about Oregon.
What is your history with the region MMT serves (Oregon and Clark County)?
I am a true Oregonian...born and raised right here...proud to have attended the Rose Festival forever, even reserved a spot on the sidewalk with chalk...
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Hiking in the Gorge, bicycling in Cycle Oregon, or skiing in El Nino conditions (now that requires a real Oregonian).
What is your proudest accomplishment?
Launched 4 kids with my husband, Dave, and served as chair of Friends of the Columbia Gorge which successfully achieved protection of the Gorge 25 years ago.
If you could talk to Fred Meyer today, what would you tell him about Meyer Memorial Trust?
He was genius to set up such a flexible organization and everyday we hope to be as inventive and entrepreneurial as he.
What is your advice to future MMT trustees?
Spend time with the nonprofits in our state to understand their challenges first hand. It is really tough to be a sustainable organization.
