Looking ahead at MMT

It's difficult to overstate the changes Meyer Memorial Trust has been through over the past half decade. Five years ago, we were almost exclusively a general purpose responsive foundation, with nearly all our giving in response to proposals submitted from organizations across Oregon and Clark County, Washington. The field of philanthropy, however, has learned much  READ MORE

Staffing Changes

You may have heard that MMT has openings for two administrative assistants. These positions are available because Donna and Sandy will both be retiring this June. I know that many of you have had the pleasure of working with them over the past 20+ years, and I must say they will be sorely missed! However, I’m happy to report that they will be training two capable staff members to take their places—our very own Maddelyn High (who will become Grants Monitor) and Aisha McCoy (who will become the Applications & Data Coordinator). We expect them to transition to their new positions next month, so you’ll soon hear their cheerful voices when you call or email us.

Escaping the Paper

In the grants administration department, we spend most of our time in the office processing applications, answering questions and reading reports. In fact, we received over 600 grantee reports in just the past year. And, if you’re wondering if we actually read all those reports, the answer is an emphatic “yes!” We enjoy hearing how your projects are progressing.

Unfortunately, there aren’t enough hours in the day for us to personally visit each of our grantees, but this week I managed to escape the paperwork to attend a graduation ceremony for Central City Concern’s Community Volunteer Corps. The CVC program helps clients gain marketable skills by providing meaningful volunteer opportunities. After completion of their training and volunteer hours, the participants are acknowledged and celebrated for their hard work and achievement at a graduation ceremony.  It was very moving to hear their personal stories and to see the impact that our grant had on the graduates, and I'm glad that I was able to break away to attend.

Well, that’s it for now.  As always, if you have any questions about MMT’s guidelines or processes, feel free to contact us.
