2010 Operating Fund Announced

Topics: 2010 Operating Funds Grants | CEO Messages

While there have been some signs of economic recovery in recent months, we still hear and see much evidence that the Great Recession continues to limit many nonprofits’ ability to raise funds while demand for their services remains great. So we at MMT continue to look for ways to provide extra support to help meet these challenges.

As a result, we’re pleased to announce we are offering a special Operating Fund grants program again this year.

While our 2009 Operating Fund was aimed at organizations whose existence was threatened by the sudden and severe economic downturn, our 2010 program is intended to address a broader range of nonprofits’ needs by helping stabilize programs and finances (e.g., to help preserve important programs, provide cash flow flexibility and help shore up organizations that have used most of their reserves).  Applicants still need to demonstrate

  • their challenges are related to the economy
  • meaningful steps have already been taken to adjust to economic reality
  • clear goals have been set for the coming year.

The 2010 Operating Fund is limited to organizations that have recently received a Responsive Grant or Program Related Investment from MMT – since January 2005. (Because this fund has an expedited process, we need to rely on due diligence performed within the past five years.)

Application information is available on our website, with an application deadline of Oct. 1, 2010.

Organizations not eligible for the 2010 Operating Fund can, of course, apply for operating support through either MMT’s Responsive or Grassroots Grants programs.
