At the June program meeting, Meyer Memorial Trust awarded 45 grants
and one program-related investment loan (PRI) for nearly $2.3 million. In a separate announcement,
we recently noted MMT has supassed the $500 million mark in awards to
nonprofit organizations, primarily in Oregon and Clark County,
Washington. We are acknowledging reaching the half a billion dollars

Maupin is the last stop on our Central Columbia Gorge TWST of Wasco and
Sherman Counties. About an hour drive south of The Dalles, located
along both sides of the Deschutes River on Highway 197, this community
of 490 residents strong has reinvented itself over the last few years.

I enjoyed a picturesque drive through the Gorge today to meet up with
Sally Yee for a TWST meeting in The Dalles. The Dalles is home to one
of my family's favorite museums, The Columbia Gorge Discovery Center,

Nestled amongst hills covered with wheat and wind turbines, Moro is the first stop of three communities we will visit on our Central Columbia Gorge TWST. Karissa Lowe, Grants Management Associate of our Grant Administration Department was able to join Sally on the first day of the TWST.
TWST in Malheur County

This group made us earn our keep by asking a lot of good questions
about MMT, foundations and how to demonstrate community support for
their projects and organizations. While the community has been
struggling in the current economy, a lot of great things are happening
among the area’s nonprofit and government partners, such as more and
stronger collaborations, establishment of a new relief nursery for
at-risk families with young children
TWST in Harney County – Burns

While the county may not have a large number of residents compared to
urban areas, residents must cover vast distances and rely on a core
group of dedicated leaders to keep services and nonprofits running.
But it’s worth the effort. When asked to share some of the things they
loved about living in Harney County, one participant wrote:“The
glitter of frozen air on frozen sunny January afternoons, and the smell
of air on a blistering August sage landscape. We live in Paradise!”
Two-Way Street Tour Heads to Southeast Oregon

Meyer Memorial Trust will hold four community meetings in
southeastern Oregon's Harney and Malheur counties from Monday, May 24,
through Wednesday, May 26, 2010 as part of its Two-Way Street Tours
across Oregon and Clark County, Washington. MMT Program Officers Sally Yee and Kim Thomas will appear at these events

At the March program meeting, Meyer Memorial Trust trustees awarded 16 grants for approximately $1.5 million. These awards bring the total since MMT began operating in April 1982 to 6,084 awards
TWST in Central Coast – Lincoln City

The MMT TWST rolled into Lincoln City on Wednesday for a stop at the Lincoln City Cultural Center.
Driving into town on Tuesday afternoon under mostly sunny skies offered
amazing views of the coast and the Pacific. The ocean seem particularly

TWST in Central Coast – Florence & Newport

Over 20 folks came representing nonprofits in Florence, Bandon,
Mapleton, Westlake, and Charleston. There were three broad themes in
our discussion – hardships brought about by the recession, protecting
the environment, and programs for youth and families.
